Geology and field development

The TomskNIPIneft Institute takes an active part in all the aspects of oil prospecting and production in Tomsk Oblast. Over 20 reserve estimates, feasibility studies of recovery factors and reservoir management plans are carried out every year, from pilot operation designs to development projects.

Today, the Institute's personnel use cutting-edge modelling technologies by such companies as Schlumberger, Landmark Graphics Company, and Roxar Software Solutions. Design groups consist of specialists in various spheres, for example workers of laboratory facilities, seismic experts, sedimentologists, petrophysicists, geologists, developers, production engineers, drilling technicians and economists, which enables to get maximum information from existing field data and to make the best decisions when drawing up design documents and reservoir management plans. Geological and engineering models of fields created with regard to real history are powerful tools for the estimation of oil reserves, choice of an optimal development system, and substantiation of design decisions and oil recovery factors.
